Our Role in Economic Development
The Hempstead Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) operates as both a Type A and Type B corporation under the Texas Development Corporation Act. As a Type A corporation, HEDC supports industrial and business growth by funding projects such as manufacturing facilities, infrastructure improvements, and job training programs. As a Type B corporation, HEDC expands its efforts to include quality-of-life initiatives, including parks, recreational facilities, tourism projects, and public infrastructure, while continuing to foster local business development. Funded through a locally approved sales tax, HEDC is committed to promoting economic growth and enhancing community well-being, with full transparency and accountability under Texas Comptroller reporting requirements.
